Preparing for Orientation

We Want You to Be Prepared for Your Orientation

During your orientation session, you will have the opportunity to work with an academic advisor in a small group setting to build an appropriate class schedule. You will also receive individual attention in small group sessions with a current IUPUI student on the OTEAM. Orientation is a great way to socialize with other entering students and to make new friends (and even possible roommates)! Begin your classes registered, well organized, and better prepared by getting the most out of your orientation.

All new students beginning at IUPUI for their first degree-seeking semester will pay a onetime mandatory $110 new student fee.

Preparing for your orientation experience is easy! By following just a few simple steps listed below, you can be on your way to beginning your career at IUPUI.

In addition to completing the steps below, students will also need to bring a laptop, iPad, or any other electronic device to orientation. These electronic devices will be utilized throughout the orientation, especially during advising and registration.

Bring These Items to Orientation

When attending orientation, be sure to bring the following:

  • Laptop, iPad, or other electronic device for course registration and program needs
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Your username, passphrase, and university ID number
  • Jacket or sweater
  • Spending money for IUPUI apparel
  • $30 cash per guest

Suggested packing list for the overnight stay:

  • Clothes for Day 2
  • Sheets, blankets, and pillows
  • Washcloth and towel
  • Hygiene items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo
  • Personal items such as medications, cell phone charger, etc.

After these tasks, you are ready for orientation. Kick back and relax, knowing that you are halfway to your first semester at IUPUI!
